April - 2007

Hello Everybody!

We are looking forward to another year of our ministry, seeing all our friends, and making new ones along the way. We have had the privilege of meeting so many nice folks in the past 11 years and although we may not be able to remember all of their names, God knows who they are and that is all that matters.

We have been writing new songs as well as searching for some of the old ones that folks haven't heard in a long time, in hopes of getting a new album out in the near future.
Not much to tell as far as news this time around, no new members, no births or deaths in our families, so we will just count our Blessings and keep on keeping on.

Please check our schedule and come out to see us, for we are always happy to see you. It's pleasing to God to know that his people are gathering together in His Name.

We would like to thank everyone that came to see us and purchase our music last year. Thank God for giving us safe travel to deliver the good news of Jesus Christ, and allowing us to witness the salvation of his people.

Blessings to you!

Pastor's Perspective
"A Search for Character"

Nothing is more important to individual success and to the success of any organization than excellence of character. Our character is the real indication of who we are. The qualities which are used to measure success today such as, title, fame, or wealth are only temporary if they are gained without good character.

My favorite quote concerning character is by Aristotle. He said "to enjoy the thing we ought and to hate the things we ought has the greatest bearing on excellence of character." If there was ever a time when excellence of character is needed, it is the time in which we live. Now is a critical time.

Our governmental authorities especially the judicial branch seem to have a very clear agenda. Their agenda is to cleanse the society of every reference to the Bible and the God of the Bible. However a study of history, if conducted with an open mind will certainly show that removing the principles of God's word leaves man with no clear basis for excellence of character.

What is needed is an exhaustive search for character. The search must be made using the Bible as the source of all wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. This search does not begin in the church pew, but it must begin in the pulpit.

In James chapter one, we can see a very clear lesson in our search for personal character. We are admonished to be quick to hear the word of God. It is the word of God that is able to save your souls. In fact, scripture teaches that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The greatest temptation and problem for man is to go through life doing what he or she pleases. This self pleasing attitude is
evident in all areas of society; it can even be found in the Church. However, James tells us that a true hearer of the Word will be slow to speak, will put aside filthiness, will put away naughtiness, and will receive the word of God with meekness. A true Hearer of the Word will also, learn to bridle his tongue.

The Word of God, is the key to excellence of character, however we also learn about character from people who exhibit it. This is the thought from James when we are instructed to be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. It is not enough to just hear, or even be able to quote the Word, we must live the word. The Word must be the rule and guide for every area of our lives. Character must not be a Sunday only trait; it must be our every day rule.
My prayer is that God may help us as individuals, and as a nation to "search out the old paths" of excellence of character.
